About

Hello!

We are a motley crew of six who left a lovely life in the city for an adventure in the country. We’re cityfolk by nature, and nature folk at heart. Knowing we’d make mistakes and likely provide ample material for a good chuckle from our country neighbours (“oh, those city folk”) we figured we might as well laugh at ourselves as well – hence the name, Cityfolk Farm.

We’ve taken root in this place and want to share it with you – we do this through farmstays (Where the Sidewalk Ends), Awaken Herb Farm, Take Root Festival, Rise Up Herb Gathering, and other events.

We live, work, and host others on the land now stewarded by our family, with deep respect for the Indigenous people, farmers and land tenders who cared for this land before us here on Treaty 1 – the land of the Anishanaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the National Homeland of the Red River Metis.

Our logo represents a few things on the farm…

Willow: Our fluffy white great pyrenees’ name sake are the many pussy willows on the land. There is a lot of Willow here, and we’re enjoying exploring how to tend them, connect and create with them.

Morel: In 2026, Willow was joined by a sweet Great Pyrenees pup with a more beige colouring… we named her Morel after the few Morel mushrooms we’ve found here.

Amanita mushroom: This one might not be exactly an Amanita, but is reminiscent of it – there are a myriad of mushrooms here, and there’s one spot we made into a children’s forest – welp, that’s the spot where the poisonous Amanita’s grow. Naturally. Kind of Alice-in-Wonderland-esque. We enjoy foraging for Boletes, Slippery Jacks, Puffballs, and more, and cultivating (or trying to) Wine Caps and Lion’s Mane.

Calendula: This one represents our cultivated plant friends at Awaken Herbs. Since 2019 we’ve been growing medicinal herbs and fruits like Calendula, Marshmallow root, Ashwaghanda, Elderberry, Aronia, Sea Buckthorn and more – over 40 species! We host u-picks, a CSA program, and more.
